Monday Bunday: Lapin Domes and Pedestals

This resin collection by San Francisco designer Tina Frey are elegant and whimsical. Lapin is french for rabbit and these dome and pedestals are both classy and rabbity. I love their slightly askew, imperfect shapes. Like they’ve been designed straight from sketches or doodles. The smaller domes would be great as a butter dish and the larger ones for parties. You can view more of Tina’s work over at her website www.tinafreydesigns.com.

Monday Bunday: Lady Aiko

Tokyo-born, NYC living artist Aiko Nakagawa goes by the name Lady Aiko has a background in graphic design and filmmaking. Her bunny welding a can design has taken on a life of it’s own. I’m loving the Hot Pink Bunny Cans that feature a stencil of the bunny holding a can. Lady Aiko has painted this rabbit on canvases and also out there in the real world (in the streets). Vinyl toy giants Kidrobot have made her bunny into a collectable toy and you can pick it up online for about $40US. You can view Lady Aiko’s work at her website http://www.ladyaiko.com

Monday Bunday: Luke Chueh

Illustrator Luke Chueh doesn’t just draw bunnies. But he certainly has a morbid fascination with them. Luke’s characters have a cuteness about them but also a sinister element. There is a sadness. Luke lives in and works in LA and his background is in graphic design. You can view more of his work (including non-bunnies) over at his website www.lukechueh.com

Monday Bunday: Duck-Rabbit Problem

This fluffy sculpture by Kathy Temin is a cuddly play on a well known duck-rabbit optical illusion. The sculpture looks so sweet and cuddly I want to put on my pyjamas, slippers and watch telly with it. Viewed from the yellow side, it is supposed to resemble a duck. Viewed from the pink side, a rabbit. Though why it’s head is severed and presented on a watermelon plate is beyond me.

Monday Bunday: Nini Sum

Nini Sum of Idle Beats (one of the few screenprint/poster studios in China) released this lovely screenprint “Rabbit Year In Shanghai” last year. A tiny edition of 56, it has sold out of course. Probably many times over. You can view Nini’s other poster designs at http://www.idlebeats.com. I also had an inkling to look up Nini’s own website. I’m sure glad I did because I found a few further bunny related gems. Check out her site www.ninisum.com. It’s super cool and surrealist.

Monday Bunday: Jose Ortiz

This illustration by Jose Ortiz for client Linguagraphics makes me smile. Black cats and white rabbits are both recognized for their magical properties. The black cat as a witch’s familiar and the white rabbit as the magicians sidekick. Jose’s slick portofolio has a clean, cool finish and bears the hand of a perfectionist. His work can be found on his website www.jofolio.com.

Monday Bunday: Urbis Bunny 2012

I’ve been busy with work and such, but a couple of weekends ago, I had a great time at the annual Urbis Designday. Each year this event woos me and this year it did not disappoint. I can’t think of a better all-emcompassing design and food event. A must for fans of design and food and if you work in the industry, you really should give it a day. It’s only one day and you won’t regret it! Urbis Designday is everything this blog stands for and if I had to make a 3 item checklist (Bunny, Eats, Design) I would be able to tick all three items off many, many times. I will post a post on the great food at Urbis as well as the design, but until then, let’s begin with all the bunnies at Designday. And if bunnies aren’t your thing, perhaps some of the baby chickens that were at the Essenze showroom will tickle your fancy? Easter is coming up soon after all. Bunnies and baby chickens are Easter personified. If …

Monday Bunday: Hare’s Bride Beer

Beautifully illustrated label by Tenfold Collective for Grimm Brothers Brewhouse beer: Hare’s Bride. The label is adult and whimsical without being twee. A man wouldn’t be afraid to hold this in his hand. This label is printed using white and black inks on top of a silver foil. A high alcohol content beer, this is sure to knock the bride off your hare. Bonus: Look for the animated rabbit over at the Tenfold website! Via The Dieline.

Monday Bunday: Mandy Coon Bunny bag

I don’t usually go ga-ga over celebrity styles, but there is something appealing about Zooey Deschanel. Tailored fit, whimsey, pretty dresses, vintage, less slut, more pin-up and more is more. I loved her wardrobe in the movie 500 Days of Summer and she was recently spotted with a Mandy Coon Bunny bag. Tumeke! Even though this bag costs a small fortune, it is sold out online. It kind of reminds me of this bunny shopping bag, only this bunny turns into a bag. You can’t have your bunny and bag it too.

Monday Bunday: Kissing Rabbits Picnic Blanket

It’s summer here at the moment and with so many of us trying to save money for this or that, a picnic with friends is a great way to spend an afternoon. I must admit, I don’t even own a picnic blanket. We just use a summer weight sleeping bag. How cute is this Kissing Rabbits Picnic Blanket by Anorak? A blanket like this would be a compact alternative to lugging around our sleeping bag. It’s on the pricey side at £36, but if you picnic a lot, it could be a worthwhile investment.

Monday Bunday: Choice Cuts Labbit

Holy crap. A designer that I adore has turned one of his collector items that I also adore into a diagram of another thing I adore. Frank Kozik has just released a new Labbit vinyl toy called Choice Cuts displaying the cuts of pork. I love Frank Kozik. I love Labbits. I love pork. Geek. Out. Overload. The release and signing of this toy was on Friday at a fantastic butcher in LA, California where they gave away a sausage to the first 50 in line. More info over at Kid Robot here.
