I haven’t been watching much TV lately, but a quick nosey shows that there are some foodie things to watch on “free to air” TV in New Zealand at the moment.

There’s nothing currently on Friday (making it a good “go out” night) and Tuesday is a foodie marathon over on Prime.
I love watching food on TV. I find it comforting, voyeuristic and inspiring. We don’t have Sky, mostly because I feel like paying for TV would make me feel like I should watch TV more.
What are your favourite current and past foodie shows?
My top 3 are Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations, Top Chef, and Rick Stein’s Far Eastern Odyssey.

I found out about the Supersizers Go… in Britain. Unfortunately, not aired in the US, but you can still watch them on Youtube. Sure, it glosses over large swaths of history and culture, but it sure is entertaining!

Entertainment is a big part of food tv. It if sounds like work, then it’s not going to be fun to watch.

I love No Reservations, but I have to say I haven’t watched much else of current food tv… I don’t own a TV (gasp!) so my tv-watching is often limited to things I hear about and watch on demand, or at other people’s houses 🙂
Demand is great. I like watching a series back to back on demand. I did that with Al Brown’s show. It’s like a movie length marathon.
I don’t watch tv either. I used to love River Cottage, – is that still showing?
No, I loved River Cottage when it was on too. Maybe the summer season will be on soon though.
I watch TV about three times a year, but recently I turned it on and watched Nigella’s Christmas… so enjoyed that!
It’s quite interesting the number of food bloggers that don’t watch tv. I wonder if it’s a world-wide phenomenon? We all have the same amount of time, so we must make a decision between blogging and tv…and other things.
