Lucy Eats is a combination of recipes and reviews by Auckland food blogger Lucy Abraham. She cooks and eats delicious, hearty food and knows a thing or two about Chinese food.
Below are her answers to the tasty questions I cooked up for your enjoyment.
Describe your blog:
I come from a Chinese family where a gathering is not a gathering unless there is an abundance of food. My blog is about food that you can share with loved ones.
What is the most popular post on your blog?:
Name your favourite comfort food:
I love having chicken and sweet corn soup. I could have a whole pot of it!
What did you have for breakfast?
A breakfast frittata made from left over roast chicken and chunky roast veggies.
What is the most delicious thing you’ve eaten this week?
The porridge at The Store, Britomart – it had rhubarb, apple and real honey comb!
What are 3 sources of inspiration to you?
Instagram, Mindfood magazine, the interesting diets my friends and family are on.
Favourite Auckland restaurant?
This one is super hard. I think it would have to be Shanghai Chinese Restaurant in Northcote.
…and your favourite dish there?
Wontons and Chicken Casserole – very hearty.
There’s a potluck dinner tomorrow night, what are you bringing?
Pulled pork and crunchy coleslaw for sliders.
What is your most memorable meal?
Wontons at Hong Kong airport in 2011 – Jason and I had just been travelling for 11 hours and I hadn’t eaten anything because I felt sick. A bowl of hot wonton soup was exactly what I needed upon landing. I’m pretty sure I cried as I was eating it!
An Auckland eatery that is on your wishlist?
Too many. Blue Breeze Inn has been on it for a little while now – haven’t found the time yet.
Thanks so much for the feature, Genie! I’ve really loved reading all the others you’ve been posting too!
