Friday Favourites: The best seafood buffet

SBF Brasserie has the very best seafood buffet in Auckland and reserved for special occasions in my family. Fresh oysters, salmon sashimi, crab and hot smoked salmon are my personal highlights and I’ll happily have 2 helpings of seafood. Crab isn’t popular in New Zealand for some reason – perhaps the high grapple factor puts people off – so it’s nice to see it offered here. The hot food selection is good too but I didn’t need more than 1 plate of it. Service is great, water top ups a plenty and plates are cleared regularly.

The golden kiwi and pavlova flavoured icecream was interesting and yummy. The chocolate fountain is a fun (though messy) for adults and kids.

My only complaint are the booths. I’m not a large person and found it hard to get in and out of the booth seats. Not much space between seat and table. The cushions while pretty only get in the way and with people on on either me, it was a hassle to get out as I had to wait for them to leave or ask them to get out so I could get get out.

You could easily spend $60 on half a seafood platter at another fancy restaurant in Auckland (and that even include starters and dessert). SBF Brasserie is not the cheapest buffet, but it is great value. A quality seafood buffet for less than $60NZ.

Highlights of SBF Brasserie

Plush surroundings and all the wonderful seafood. Don’t bother visiting SBF Brasserie if you don’t eat seafood. Come here for a special occasion.

    Dear Genie

I am writing on your blog because I like to read it and it would be cool if I won your lil sister’s artwork and then I could hang it up here in DC! I’d let you send to Cocobean to forward…

Anyway, now that I am writing I should say that quite often I read your blogs. I particularly like this post because 1. I like seafood, and 2. It’s true what you say about crab in NZ – it’s just not seen/eaten/servced as often as in other parts of the world – like the states – crab is big here… maybe it’s because we have delicious lobster, ? which I have to say I do prefer… although the states are big on lobster as well as crab..

keep up the great work xxxxxxxxx

    • Dear Michelle, thank you for your lovely comment! You are a sweetie. I hope you are eating up a storm over in the states. I want to eat in lots of places in the states. I especially want to indulge at a lobster shack. Have you been to one yet? Good luck on winning Jo’s painting!

I love your comments! Your comments are like extra melted cheese on top.
