Tofu Tuesday: Kitchen Scales

My sister got me this set of kitchen scales for Christmas. Of course, the first thing we weighed was this little dude. Tofu’s diet hasn’t resulted in any weight loss, in fact, at 2.6kg he’s gained 100 grams since he was last weighed. Still, his diet was for better health rather than weight loss so it’s not a complete loss. He hasn’t required a bath since his diet started so that is a very, very good thing. A new year often brings eating related resolutions, but being healthy should always outweigh weight loss. Wishing you all a happy new year and enjoyment of the good life.

Monday Bunday: The Welsh Rabbit Cheesery

This restaurant branding for The Welsh Rabbit Cheesery by Candy Coated Universe is smart and sassy. I love the nod to vintage design as well as the twee rehash of classic tattoo art. The limited colour palette with touches of red is very chic these days. I hope this look is here to stay. The twine and brown paper packaging with rubber stamp make me pine for cheese. Oh no wait, I pine for cheese just fine on my own. See more work from Candy Coated Universe at their website here. This project was designed for Tenfold Collective who I’ve blogged about before and are also tickled by bunny shapes.

Tofu Tuesday: Tofu and the white rabbit

I’ve been meaning to share this white rabbit with you. On my birthday last month, some friends held a fair at their place on Beresford Square. Another friend, Nick Rule, hand sculpts characters and casts them in wax and resin. Naturally, The Koala got a resin rabbit for me for my birthday. The detail is stunning and the pocket watch really works. I keep this bunny on my bedside table. There is a special Christmas fair this Sunday at their place again so if you’re around and looking to shop for Christmas or just to treat yourself to some lovely things, the next fair is promising to be bigger. More info on the fair here.

Tofu Tuesday: Christmas Garnish

Our feijoa tree is in flower and the flowers and leaves look very much like pohutukawa which is considered to be our native Christmas tree. Tofu the bunny loves feijoas and he also loves these leaves and flowers. Getting him to pose for these photos without gobbling them up was no small accomplishment.

Tofu Tuesday: Onitsuka Tigers

In March last year, I blogged about these Onitusuka Tiger rabbbit sneakers by Erik Kriek. They didn’t have them in my size back then and I had already resigned myself to never owning the limited edition kicks. Well last month, thanks to this blog, a lady from the other side of the world contacted me about a brand new pair that also happened to be my size. They arrived last week they fit me perfectly. Tofu gave them his seal of approval.

Monday Bunday: Seven Psychopaths

This poster for new movie Seven Psychopaths features the gravelly Tom Waits with a blue eyed white rabbit. I particularly like the catchphrase “The one with the bunny” which I assume refers to his character rather than the movie. I love Tom Wait’s voice and his song “Misery Is The River Of The World” always has me picturing a lip synching Cookie Monster. Below are some screenshots of Tom Waits and various bunnies. I haven’t seen the movie yet but hopefully the storyline doesn’t feature any ill will to the his bunnies. With a title referring to not one but seven psychopaths, it’s not looking hopeful. http://www.sevenpsychopaths.com

Monday Bunday: My Morning Jacket

I don’t like guns, but I once emptied out a Smith and Wesson revolver into a bunch of paper targets. It was strangely exhilarating. It was scary, but not in a “I’m going to kill someone” kind of way. This gig poster for My Morning Jacket and Band of Horses features a bunny target. It implies violence but it’s just a graphic. I love it as a poster, but I wouldn’t shoot at it. Designed by Michael Tabie and Karen Goheen from Two Arms Inc., this limited edition poster is available for $25US at Two Arms Inc.
