For the last little while, Tofu has been making his presence known at 6.30am. Rabbits are amazing at telling the time. Maybe he has a rabbit-sized blind person’s watch that’s he’s hidden from us or the morning birds sing the time in their song.
The other morning Tofu woke us with loud thumping around the house which is usually a sign of danger or generally being pissed off. I got up and fed him – that seemed to satisfy him.
Yesterday morning he jumped up onto the couch for snuggles (I’d fallen asleep on the couch that night).
This morning he came into our room and made noises next to my side of the bed waiting to be scooped up onto the bed.
I don’t speak rabbit, but I try to understand. Here are the conclusions that I’ve surmised for his morning wake up call.
- He’s decided that 6.30am is breakfast time
- It’s getting colder in the mornings and he wants warmth and pets
- He thinks we should be getting up by then and is disgusted at us
In any case, I’m quite enjoying our morning wake up calls, and the self-delivering bunny snuggler is pretty nice too.

The Dust Bunny used to do that too, about one minute before the alarm went off she would begging scratching and scratch and scratch and scratch at her gate! We had to lock her down in her room because she bugged us too much!
Thanks for sharing your story Eva 🙂 We are lucky that Tofu waits until a more reasonable hour. There were times when he was younger when he would annoy us at 2am. We locked him up then!

I feed my rabbit twice a day is that okay? and is it okay to give them carrot and lettuce randomly or would it effect it’s health?
I’ve also put accessories on my bunnies LOL and i was wondering if it’s safe.. I’m sure the rainbow colour band is but not sure about the black one i have used in the pictures here

Hi Kaviee, I only use accessories in the photos but take them away immediately after photographing. Tofu might try to eat them if I weren’t looking, which is bad for bunny and for things. Rabbits sometimes chew and swallow fabric which is bad for their gut and can make them sick.
Yes you can feed Snowy twice a day with fresh food but make sure she has fresh hay and fresh water all day. Carrot is a treat food, I feed 1 inch piece of carrot a day. Not every day. Iceberg lettuce is bad for rabbits, but romaine lettuce is fine. There are resources online with lists of rabbit safe foods and treats but feel free to ask me any other questions.
Oh lord I’ve been actually giving her half a carrot everyday in between the meals , I would definitely take that into consideration but thank you so much for getting back to me! I would keep fabric away from her too !
Tofu is ADORABLE!!! I think we all need a pet bunnies in our lives now too- even if it means early wake-up calls.
