Goodbye sweet Tofu

With full and heavy hearts we said goodbye to our sweet Tofu on Sunday.

Tofu lived a full life of 9.5 years and charmed everyone he met. A free ranging creature who lived his last 3 years completely blind, he was a lover, a fighter and little champion. He loved cuddles and was the most chill rabbit I ever met. His favourite foods included carrots, oats, dandelion and parsley.

He had been unwell on Sunday and our plan if he didn’t improve, was to take him to the vet on Monday morning. He has always improved after a few hours. After a sunny Sunday of cuddles and hanging out with us and friends all day in the garden, in the evening, about 7pm, on our bed, on his favourite blanket, he suddenly squealed and he was gone.

He has been a big part of our lives for almost 10 years and will be greatly missed.

Binky free little one.

He lived a very long life indeed for a bunny and I know he's in a lovely field of flowers right now, munching away and sunning himself.

Oh no! I am so sorry for your loss! I have immensely enjoyed the weekly Tofu Tuesday updates. It sounds like Tofu had an amazing life with wonderful bunny parents. Thanks for letting us share a part of his life with you. Binky free, sweet bunny!

  12. I am truly sorry for your loss–our loss. Loved reading about Tofu every Tuesday. Always made my night even after a truly awful day. I am sure he is happily eating his favorite greens in rabbit heaven.

  13. I’m weeping as I type this. Now every time Scout binkys I will think of Tofu. They could have been brothers, they resemble each other so much. I will miss seeing him on Tuesdays. However, I know you and the Koala will miss him every minute of the day. You have my condolences with the addition of a grateful note that Tofu lived a long and rich life in a family like yours.
Perhaps you could continue to share Tofu with others and leave a sweet legacy by writing a children’s picture book about ‘The Tale of Tofu.’ I can almost see it in my mind. God bless you both.

      • I hope you will seriously consider it. With your writing gift and a publisher’s ability to find the perfect illustrator, I believe it would be a treasure to many children. Me included.

  14. Sorry for your loss. We all loved Tofu too. He lived a v.good and loved life, and is resting now–sight restored as well. Hope things would get easier for you in time.

  15. I am so sorry to hear this! I will give my guy an extra treat tonight. This is on my mind as my bunny is getting older. It sounds like you gave Tofu a fantastic life and that he was a very happy guy.

  18. aww so sorry to hear that. As a fellow bunny mommy, I know that pain. The happy memories will outweigh the loss. Just be happy that he had a great and long life. I’m sure he was spoiled and spoiled you as well.

  19. That’s really sad to hear. I only just “got to know” him. I can guess that he was an important family member; I’m sorry for you.

So very sorry to hear of Tofu’s passing. I felt like he was a little on-line friend of mine, having lost our own bunny many years ago. I have always loved seeing his photos which gave the impression that he was right there for a visit and I have been amazed to hear descriptions of the fantastic veterinary and personal care he received. He must be one of the best loved and most widely known bunnies on earth. I’m sure you ache and miss him. Thank you for sharing him with us. Know that he will be remembered by his (your) followers far and wide.

  21. I just read this. I am so sorry about Tofu. I have always loved looking at his photos. Sending you love.

  22. I’m so sorry to hear about Tofu! Whenever I teach about blogging, I reference your site because I love how you’ve incorporated Tofu into your story. I know what it’s like to lose a furry family member, and my heart goes out to you. Praying you find solace knowing that God has a special place in heaven for His creatures. – Ashley
