Monday Bunday: Seven Psychopaths

This poster for new movie Seven Psychopaths features the gravelly Tom Waits with a blue eyed white rabbit. I particularly like the catchphrase “The one with the bunny” which I assume refers to his character rather than the movie. I love Tom Wait’s voice and his song “Misery Is The River Of The World” always has me picturing a lip synching Cookie Monster. Below are some screenshots of Tom Waits and various bunnies. I haven’t seen the movie yet but hopefully the storyline doesn’t feature any ill will to the his bunnies. With a title referring to not one but seven psychopaths, it’s not looking hopeful. http://www.sevenpsychopaths.com

Monday Bunday: My Morning Jacket

I don’t like guns, but I once emptied out a Smith and Wesson revolver into a bunch of paper targets. It was strangely exhilarating. It was scary, but not in a “I’m going to kill someone” kind of way. This gig poster for My Morning Jacket and Band of Horses features a bunny target. It implies violence but it’s just a graphic. I love it as a poster, but I wouldn’t shoot at it. Designed by Michael Tabie and Karen Goheen from Two Arms Inc., this limited edition poster is available for $25US at Two Arms Inc.

Monday Bunday: Rabbit Vase

The possibilities for this rabbit ears vase are endless. Leaves and long stemmed flowers would be obvious choices, but feathers, bunches of twigs, straw and even lollipops would also work. These vases come in colours, but I think the white or black would be my picks. More info on this vase at Japanese company Furnish: www.furnish.jp

Monday Bunday: Interior Design with Real Bunnies

When a new person comes to visit, we notice them noticing our rabbit running loose indoors. We are accustomed to seeing a rabbit around the house. Tofu isn’t a prop, he’s a legitimate member of the household. Still, I always get a kick out of seeing other rabbits in other indoor settings. Especially beautifully styled homes or hanging out on beautiful furniture. When you have a beautifully designed room or piece of furniture, you need two other things. A rabbit and a talented photographer. For your viewing pleasure, I have collected these images from around the world, relating to bunnies with beautiful interiors or architecture. I hope you enjoy these as much as I have. The three of them are very beautiful, have excellent taste and a gorgeous home in The Netherlands. You can view more of …

Monday Bunday: The Bunny Museum

I like collecting well designed rabbity things and we have at least 1 rabbit in every room of the house. But I prefer quality over quantity. If I ever decide to go quantity, I’m sure something like The Bunny Museum would explode into our house. I hope someone intervenes before this ever happens me. Monday Bunday: Mitsy/ArtMind’s Bunnies

Mitsy is the genius behind clay based store ArtMind on Etsy. She works with many different shapes including bunny shapes. These sweet pieces are highly collectable and offer a serene, contemplative body that would feel right at home in a mini zen garden. You can tell front from back only by the tell-tale tail. View more of her works at her Etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/shop/ArtMind

Monday Bunday: Action Bunny

Action Bunny wears gold pants. Action Bunny also dones a gold ninja outfit and sports a wooden peg leg. Is that Action Piggie too? Sadly, Action Bunny is no longer available at his shop over on Etsy shop Corduroy. But maybe one day he will be back. Corduroy is run by a Jen Ray and her website is jenray.net/

Monday Bunday: Lunch boxes

I’m bringing lunch to work more these days. Sandwiches at the start of the week (with roast meat left over from Sunday), leftovers and a hodgepodge of assembled lunches on other days. If I was busy at work, I would treat myself to a nice lunch out. It was an excuse to get out of the office, see some daylight, go for a walk and sample some delicious local cuisine. If I buy lunch, I usually spend an average of $7NZ which soon adds up. I used to buy lunch most days, but Last week I brought a home made lunch every single day and the last few weeks before, I’ve been buying only once a week. I’m always recycling plastic take-out containers, but if I had an adorable lunch box I would be more enthusiastic about bringing lunch. Here is a round up of a few bunny lunch boxes from around the web. I particularly like the ones wit partitions and multi-storey compartments. Monday Bunday: Cat Rabbit makes me yook-gun

There is a phrase in Cantonese that we don’t have in English, called yook-gun which literally translates to meat tight. It refers to the feeling you get when you see something so adorable or whimsical and your muscles tense up and you get super aggressive. A great example of this is in the animated movie Despicable Me when Agnes gets her unicorn toy. It’s soooo fluffy I’m going to DIE!!! Cat Rabbit makes me yook-gun. Cat Rabbit turns me into Agnes. I am in love with these hipster rabbits. Look at their spectacles. Look at their eye capsules. Look at their indignant little mouths. Look at their pulled up socks. Look at their collars and bow ties and scarves and capes. The detail makes me want to burst into tears. They are the best in the world and it physically breaks my heart to look at these too long. Melbourne based textile-artist Cat-Rabbit has an amazing collection of plush personalities (not just rabbits). Please check out her website http://www.catrabbit.com.au for more fantastic beings. She also sells her toys …

Monday Bunday: Bunny Bar

Bunny Bar packaging and branding by design company Strohl, makes use of cute doodles and sweet typography to give these snacks an organic, handmade feel. Part of a more refined brand, this product was to appeal to a younger market. Each pet bunny is colour coded to represent each of the different flavours: Mimi Merry Mango Strawberry, Squeaky Cheeky Choco Cherry, DeeDee Dot Cherry Apricot and Rocco Choco Banana. The founder raised 18 pet rabbits as a child, hence the company name: 18 rabbits. I’d buy these.

Monday Bunday: Paris House

Oops. So I’ve gone and fallen in love with another New Zealand designer that sells to a wealthy overseas market. I am not a wealthy overseas market, but I was on the hunt for a new wallet and a new bag. Sharon Paris started her company about 6 years ago calls herself an artist, but I beg to differ. She may have a BFA from The University of Auckland, but this is fashion design. The products she puts out in design shops all over the world are made from soft Italian leather, double stitched and are fully lined. It is quality stuff, fetching quality prices. The the that makes the brand interesting are it’s quirky phrases. Not what you would expect from high end luxury items. More reminiscent of bathroom graffiti. Sharon was once heard saying, “Whenever they say it can’t be done, remind them they can make a jellybean that tastes exactly like popcorn.” I think it’s a nice insight to her determination and slightly random, surplus-to-needs brand. No one needs popcorn flavoured jellybeans. …

Monday Bunday: Roby Dwi Antono

Roby Dwi Antono is a talented illustrator from Indonesia. I feel like I’m looking into the twisted mind of an evil, lagomorph loving genius when I view his work. Roby’s work has been compared to well-know American painter Mark Ryden. Same style, different subject matter. Roby digs bunnies, Mark digs creepy girls. You can view more of his fantastical and macabre artworks at his website Lobilob.
