Monday Bunday: Schipper’s Beer

Schipper’s beer is a tiny brewery based in my neck of the woods. The brewer is a local photographer with a passion for food and beer. Schippers have delightful branding including this armed and dapper magician for Schipper’s Herr X Vienna Lager. A complex but elegant lager with subtle cherry and raisin aromas. 80’s music nerds will be interested to note that Herr X is the B-side of Ultravox’s Vienna. Illustrations by Paul Densem at Teaspoon Films and design by Gunroom. You can see more work by Gunroom and Paul Densem here and here. Find out more about Schipper’s Beer on their Facebook page. Tofu Tuesday: Early morning snooze

Tofu the bunny runs to the back door most mornings, eager to be let out and greet the sunshine. We receive a lot of sun on our deck so if it is a bright day, Tofu might flop over for an early morning nap. I have seen him asleep on the deck a thousand times and it still pleases me how content he looks. Another Tuesday, another photo of the rabbit basking in the sunshine. Doesn’t he look positively blissed out?

Monday Bunday: Bunny Backpack

The Koala and I share a backpack. The Kathmandu backpack came free with my first student bank account, which means it has given a good 12 years of service. It has travelled with me to Hong Kong, Malaysia, Borneo, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. Probably due to the countless beach missions, one zipper is calcified. I’m in no rush, but I’ve been on the lookout for a new backpack. Too bad this bag from ASOS is out of stock.

Tofu Tuesday: Head and Butt

It’s getting cooler here in Auckland’s autumn. Last night we turned the heater on for the first time (real low). Tofu the fluffy rabbit can still be found outside every day. He runs outside on his own and some days he even comes inside on his own. Not bad for a blind rabbit. On rainy days he insists he’ll be good and once outside, he usually finds shelter. He loves routine and being outside during the day is his life. One of his favourite spots to lounge is under the stairs. I have to commend the rabbit. He sure knows how to sunbathe. Head and butt perfectly positioned in the sunshine. Can you imagine how good that feels? *Bliss*

Tofu Tuesday: Doppelgängers

Every time I see a rabbit that looks like Tofu, something weird happens to my ticker. I want to squeal and cry at the same time. It plays tricks with my heart. From Wiki “In fiction and folklore, a doppelgänger is a paranormal double of a living person. A doppelgänger is often perceived as a sinister form of bilocation and is regarded by some to be a harbinger of bad luck. In some traditions, a doppelgänger seen by a person’s relative or friend portends illness or danger while seeing one’s own doppelgänger is said to be an omen of death.” Here is a collection photos I have seen on the internet of Tofu bunny lookalikes.

Tofu Tuesday: Bunny shaming #2

Tofu the bunny has been more active. We thought that he didn’t jump up onto the couch and bed because he was getting old, but after surgery, he has been  jumping up onto the couch. On Friday we returned to the vet for a follow-up visit. They were pleased with his progress. One vet thought she recognised a picture of Tofu on the internet. She showed me the picture of this bok choy monster and yep, that’s him. The team at Lynfield Vets practice rabbit sorcery. They do amazing work and we are comforted by the fact there are always other rabbits in the waiting room when we visit. Want to see more bunny shaming? See here.

Monday Bunday: Nutty Bunny

I love this branding by Sophia Georgopoulou for U.S. dessert company Nutty Bunny. Once upon a time, in the not too distant past, a little girl developed some serious allergies including dairy products. Her mother, who has a culinary background, developed a healthy non-dairy ice cream for her and Nutty Bunny was born. The handrawn, doodles that Sophia Georgopoulou has come up with look really suits the natural characteristics of the product. All ingredients are 100% organic, vegan, non-GMO and are naturally gluten-free. Nutty Bunny products do not use any artificial sweeteners and there are no funky, unpronouncable substances. They simply use nature’s purest ingredients and local sources whenever possible. See more of Sophia’s work on her Behance portfolio here or her website http://www.sophiag.com.
