Since this post, Tofu seems to be happy and adapting to being blind on one side. He doesn’t jump up onto our bed as much as he used to and he’s easy to catch when we want to bring him inside. But he’s a happy bunny and enjoys everything he did before blindness. He still comes in on his own and finds his way easily around the house.
We have noticed a cloudiness over his good eye now too. This seems to come and go and we aren’t sure if it’s going to deteriorate to blindness too. For now, Tofu can still seem to make out shapes and light enough to interact with others.
Including Georgie.
We suspect that Tofu can see Georgie, he’s just humouring him.
See past episodes of Tofu and Georgie here and their initial post here.
I love the evil glowing cat eyes. My last cat used to love to play jungle kitty, especially when the grass was long. My current cat is too much of a queen to both with that silly stuff.
Georgie has great eyes, but it’s all just for show as he’s a timid cat. Right after this photo, Tofu ran up to Georgie and Georgie got self conscious and quit the evil kitty act.
Ohh poor tofu 😦 Tyler built a maze for Flatpac last night. I think he had more fun than she did. I love how placid Tofu is!
That’s adorable. We’ve never set Tofu on a maze before, but I like to tease him with a scarf. I make walls and forts with it and surround him with scarf. I congratulate him on a job well done each time he figures it out. I figure he must be enjoying it or he would just run away.
Poor Tofu! I hope that the cloudiness in his other eye is just temporary. How well do bunnies smell? I was just wondering if their other senses compensate more when one goes . . .
I’m not sure if his smell is getting better, but smell is really important for bunnies. Bunnies have an incredible sense of smell. We have to be careful because he can sniff out the tiniest crumb of chocolate sitting on a coffee table or even a hot cross bun wrapped in plastic inside a handbag sitting on a chair. I know this because Tofu has helped himself to these things.

Ninja looks like he may have had a bit of help with the red eyes…photoshop perhaps?
Not Photoshop this time, Georgie naturally has bright orange eyes. He’s very much a witche’s familiar.
Hehe what a pair of cuties! Good work on capturing this on camera! Love it!
Thanks Lydia!
