Taste of Auckland is my favourite, favourite, favourite foodie event. Taste is 7 years old this year and I have been attending religiously every year since inception, including the bonus Taste at The Cloud during RWC year. Obsessed much? Taste of Auckland is coming up in November and tickets are on sale now. With special thanks to Lemongrass Productions, I have two tickets to give away to one lucky reader. To enter, just visit my Instagram account and name one dish I have posted to Instagram recently. Entry form at the bottom of this post. The main drawcard of Taste are the restaurants, each serving up a small menu of tasty morsels. This year there will also be Brew Street, a craft beer special with 10 minute meet the makers talks. The Social Kitchen by Fisher and Paykel is always popular with the festival goers. Nothing quite like an interactive, edible exhibit. You can also look forward to a gourmet hangi. A first in Taste history. Bloggers, reviewers and food pornographers will be happy to learn that Canon will be running a Food Photography workshop during the festival. Tickets: $50 per person including your …

Healthy Food Guide is the top selling food magazine here in New Zealand and is currently celebrating it’s 10th birthday. Thanks to Healthy Food Guide, I have 3 x 12 month subscriptions to give away. Competition details at the bottom of this post. We have a shameful history of demonising foods. Butter, saturated fats, red meat, salt, sugar, seafood, carbs, grains have all been glamourised and shunned. I’ve never professed that this blog was a healthy food blog (and it still isn’t), but food and nutrition are inextricably tangled together. There is so much misinformation and pseudoscience out there both online and in print. Blogs sometimes cite unproven, anecdotal information without real science to back it up. There is no-one fact checking blogs and with cases coming out like Belle Gibson and The Whole Pantry, it is clear that self regulation does not work. That’s why it is comforting to have experts such as the Healthy Food Guide here in New Zealand. Niki Bezzant is the founding editor of Healthy Food Guide and contributors include …

To celebrate 4 years of Bunny Eats Design, I’d like to share a few wonderful things that I’ve gushed about, salivated over and adored. The turn out was great and while her painting style has evolved considerably since her last show, there are still some food themes going on there.

In fact, tomorrow I’m planning on seeing a foodie movie followed with dinner at a very relevant, very new restaurant. Double pass With special thanks to Rialto Cinemas and Films for Foodies, we are giving away a double pass to the “Love Steaks” Films for Foodie event on Wednesday 17 September 2014.
