I can hardly believe it has been 4 years since I started this blog. One day I started and just forgot to stop. I’m a little horrified that I’ve published over 1000 posts over 4 years. With around 250 views a day and over 1000 subscribers, I feel incredibly blessed to have an audience. It’s amazing how anyone can start something and put in the passion and man-hours and suddenly you are “a blogger”.
I’ve enjoyed using this blog as an excuse for adventure. I’ve eaten some amazing things (fish laap in Laos, mantis prawn in Borneo) and some gross things (bile in Vietnam). I’ve also enjoyed eating crickets, alpaca, snake, brains, eyes, and hearts.
I bought a DLSR and improved my photography, though I still (and probably always will) struggle with bad lighting.
I’ve pushed my cooking tremendously, ticking off bucket list items such as making cheese, bacon, ice cream and revisiting baking (my nemesis) over and over again.
I’ve explore new foods and ingredients, some of are now regulars in my kitchen like pulled pork, eggplant and millet. I now think nothing of attempting to recreate a restaurant dish at home. You do it once, you’ll do it again. There have been failures but also many successes. It’s these triumphs that keep me going. I have tried to inspire some of you to push yourselves too by starting up Our Growing Edge, a monthly link up party for adventurous foodies.
I’ve met some kindred spirits online and in real life. You know who you are. So to those that have been around for a while or just started reading, sincerely, thank you.
It’s not a proper birthday without presents, so over the next week, I’ll be announcing some delicious giveaways, so watch this space!

I can’t believe it’s a year since last year’s anniversary and I won your cards 🙂 I really enjoy your blog so keep enjoying blogging Genie. It’s amazing how we begin blogging with no idea then slowly get friends around the world, grow so much in many areas: photography, cooking, adventures in eating haha. Enjoy many more years of it.
By the way, I’m trying to save up for a DLSR. My camera did not improve (moisture it was not) and I’l have to send it in to get fixed. The guarantee is only for a year so depending on how costly the repair is I’ll repair it or get a new digital camera (and continue trying to save up for the DLSR).
